As a fourth generation nurseryman who owned and operated a family nursery and garden center in Little Rock, Arkansas, P. Allen Smith gained years of practical experience guiding the gardening public before he launched a career in garden design and television.

Today, P. Allen Smith is an internationally renowned garden and landscape expert. His two television shows reach over eighty percent of U.S. households. He is the garden expert on NBC’s Today Show, produces all the garden reports for The Weather Channel and is a contributor to numerous magazines. Smith is also the author of the bestselling book, P. Allen Smith’s Garden Home, the first in a series of books.

P. Allen Smith’s gardening expertise has been recognized by numerous organizations.   In 2006, Smith received the Garden Club of America’s prestigious Medal of Honor and in 2007 was named an honorary member. Smith is a Certified Fellow of the Royal Horticultural Society and a board member of the Royal Oak Foundation.

Smith received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and History from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas and did Postgraduate Studies in Garden History and Design at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.
